Hello all!

Recently I have been ‘disconnected’ from the interwebz for about a week. Work was getting busy, and GTA was absorbing a lot of my time, combine that with a death in the family (although expected for some time, still tough) and it led to me not being around for some time.

However, now I’m back in work (hence the posting, lol!) and I thought I’d give a little update on various things that’s been going on.

As I mentioned, there was a death in the family. I’ll not go too deep on this but I will say it was my dear grandmother. She was a wonderful lady and sadly the past couple of years have been hard for her, and for my family, as we all dealt with her Alzheimer’s. It had gotten to the stage were she didn’t really remember who I was, as well as other family and friends, and it got too tough for me to handle. I wanted to remember her for how she was and that memory will always be with me. She was a great granny to me as a child, and I remember various great times with her. Her physical health had also gotten worse and when she left us on Saturday past, we knew she would suffer no more. She was a great woman of faith and I firmly believe she is in a much better place, where I hope to see her one day again. She was laid to rest on Tuesday and it was a wonderful service. That’s all I want to say but I hope it gives an idea as to the kind of lady she was and what she meant to me.

On a lighter note, I’m still playing through GTA IV. It’s such a great game, with so much to do, and a storyline fit for the silver screen. I haven’t had much multiplayer time in the past week as I’ve just been going through singleplayer to finish the story (mainly because a friend of mine has already finished and I want to catch up!). I’ve just finished the ‘Finale’ mission and was very disappointed (as I wanted my achievements) to find that it wasn’t the last mission. Though I guess if it was the end it would have left some unanswered questions. Thankfully, there’s a couple more missions to do but with my time sitting somewhere around 28 hours, it might be tough to finish up the story within 30 hours for the achievement. I’m hoping to do so tonight but only time will tell how much I can spend on it later.

In laptop news, my new laptop is sweet! All 3 operating systems are working and behaving right. Still haven’t had much time to play with Ubuntu but one thing I did notice is that when I use Ubuntu and switch back to Vista, my clock is messed up. I’m sure there’s a simple solution but I haven’t the time (pun not intended!) to go looking for it, and it’s not worth it for how little I’m using it at the moment. I had to revert to XP for the first time when using a specialised program that I couldn’t find Vista support for. It seems the whole ‘UAC’ and ‘Administrative rights’ are the cause of the problem and while I could just turn them off, I’m slowly falling for their advantages and the peace-of-mind it gives me. I’m also falling in love with Vista more every day. I was really sceptical of it at first and would advise anyone who is to just force themselves to it for a week and after that it should feel more of a blessing than a burden.

That all the update I think I can handle today. I’m hoping to do more with this blog (as I say nearly every post) and I’m sure one day I will. This weekend I’ll be doing some socialising in Bristol’s night spots on Saturday, as well as a 360voice community GTA IV night on Friday. Maybe Sunday (if I’m not recovering from Saturday) I will spend some time here but I’ll not make any solid plans.
